From melting to casting, processing, and finishing-each step has a quality inspection department to ensure uniformity in the final products. In every production phase, we merge scientific precision with aesthetic finesse, crafting wheels that transcend expectations.
The journey begins with the superior AlSi7Mg alloy melted at 1000°C and purified through a melt-cleaning process. The molten liquid is then cast with a controlled cooling process tailored to each wheel. This process ensures a flawless microstructure of the wheel blank. Rigorous inspections follow, with each blank X-rayed for pores and inclusions to discard sub-bar pieces. Distortion measurements are also conducted, ensuring perfection in each piece.
Mechanical pre-processing and careful heating to 300°C ensure a malleable microstructure. Three rotating rollers applying 10t of pressure via a custom wheel matrix shape the wheels. The tremendous pressure creates flow formed rims with an astonishing thickness of 2.25mm without compromising strength.We use double-sided flow forming technology to achieve deformation processing of metal workpieces by applying force at the same time, which helps to improve the forming accuracy and improve production efficiency.
Procast factory flow-formed wheels undergo an intense heat treatment, enhancing grain structure for improved strength, ductility and toughness. ‘Solution annealing’ dissolves alloying elements and rapid quenching, then cools the blanks to 70°C to reinforce molecular bonds. A rigorous artificial ageing (heat treatment) process equips wheels with the desired stability, dimensional control and strength values.
Cutting-edge CNC machines carefully shape the wheels to the final dimensions and weight. Specialized machining, taking twice the time of regular cast wheels, reduces mass to an exact 10.8kg. Careful inspection and polishing prepare them for lacquering. A final helium gas leak test ensures only perfection passes through.
A six-step comprehensive finishing ensures visual appeal and weather resistance. Careful pre-treatment removes the tiniest specks of dust, and a smooth base powder is spread. Coloured paint is then evenly applied via electrostatic coating and compressed air spraying. Three-dimensional laser engraving adds detail, and a final transparent lacquer seals everything in. Staff members then scrutinise each piece to ensure compliance with BBS quality standards.
The inclusion of stainless steel collision protection marks the final stage in our process, guaranteeing the long-lasting durability of the wheel. By incorporating this advanced feature, we provide an additional layer of protection that safeguards the wheel against any potential collisions or impacts.
